If You Can Use Social Media to Run Your Business - You Can Use Tech Too!

If someone says Tech, what’s your first thought? Do you align or do you repel?
If you align then possibly you’re already using tech and you’re finding it to be a handy tool to manage your content, build your funnels and automate your business, but if you’ve tried it and it didn’t work and you absolutely repel it, then just maybe it’s time to delve right in again.
Productivity and efficiency are the popular buzz words lately as more and more business owners try to make the most of their time during a busy day. No matter how hard you try, you simply cannot do everything yourself when it comes to running your business.
Investing in tech for your business not only decreases stress but it makes your business run more smoothly, therefore increasing profits. This is where I feel using tech is beneficial, it not only benefits you but it gives your customers a better experience too.
When I first started to use tech in my business it caused me nothing but frustration, I was so excited to use it at first but I found connecting all the cogs together to make it run efficiently was just too difficult. I absolutely take my hat off to anyone that uses separate platforms for their emails, funnels, payments, media library, course builder, membership sites and communities. But logging into endless platforms and systems everyday before I can even start to be productive was just not for me.
If you want to be successful online you have to have a solution driven mindset and strive to overcome any challenges that you face. You have to forget seeing things as problems and start looking for solutions, that’s exactly what I did. Lots of research and lots of learning with many trials and errors, however, and once you get the basics then you’re ready to step into a creative flow. I don’t just use tech for my benefit, I use it to create a whole customer journey through it too.
It’s true you can use Facebook features for your business, you can create a poll and ask questions, you can build a community in a Facebook group, store some videos and content, even tag people in, Facebook is great. But your customers are Facebooks customers, not yours. And if Facebook wants to take you down, for whatever reason, they can or if Facebook disappeared for good, the customers would go with it too. So safeguarding your business is highly important.
You’ve done a lot of work to build up your customer base, your followers, connections, fans and tribe, so keep communicating with them wherever you all hang out, but safeguard your own business too, your content, your live videos, your training and whatever else it is you put out to share and think about managing your business through tech.
As an example; you deliver a paid programme through a private Facebook Group, your students are paying for your coaching and you make a mistake that violates Facebooks community guidelines and they give you a 28 day ban. Where does that leave you? Your customers have paid for a service and now you are unable to deliver it and unable to reach them, because you have no way of reaching your customers, your customers are left high and dry. My advice is, don't be too reliant on one source, always have a back up.
Having a back up plan to safeguard your business is extremely important. For instance I have my home pages and my about pages built into my platform, but I also have these pages backed up elsewhere. There is no DNS pointing to my safe site because it points to the platform I use, but if anything happened to that, I would not lose everything. Why put all your eggs in one basket? Without trying to over complicate things, but understanding and having the knowledge is power to you.
