3 Ways to Expand Your Career Coaching Business in 2023
With the e-learning industry on the rise, it’s important for any business to adapt as we move forward with technology, like there’s more than one way to cook a potato right?
So, if you're a Career Coach that only focusses on working with clients on a one to one basis, which can come with challenges in itself, time bound, affordability and even timezones, is it time to review your business model and open up the doors of opportunity by letting in more clients?
Your ultimate goal is to help people succeed and reach their own goals but you’re only offering a one to one service, are you actually holding some people back? Of course you’re not, but by adapting your business model slightly and offering stand alone programmes where clients can self study at a lower cost then you’re certainly going to be able to reach more people and help them to reach their goals.
In this blog I’ll be sharing 3 examples of how you can grow your career coaching business by adapting your methods of delivery in an ever growing market of online learning. Not everyone can afford one to one coaching but learning and growth should be available to all.
By expanding your own business and diversifying slightly into the learning market, it makes your business more efficient, adds profit and creates a steady stream of passive income, this means you can help a proportion of clients with their career journey, access your information, if they can’t for whatever reason work with you on a one to one basis.
Once you've set your own business up with an e-learning course or programme, it can work efficiently in a way that it's an off the shelf product that can be available to clients 24/7 and increases your customers satisfaction because they are able to access you and your expertise rather than having to look elsewhere for services that you are not able to deliver to them.
There are different models that can be used from a career coaches perspective and here are my top 3:
#1. Build a Group Coaching Programme
One option is to deliver one of your coaching programmes into a group coaching programme. Some people love to learn along side others, it motivates them and they get more from learning when they are in a group environment with you as the leader. Although you will need to allow your students access to you for lesson delivery and question and answer sessions, once planned out it shouldn’t take up more than three hours a week to manage the group coaching programme.
#2. Develop an Online Course
Another excellent option for reaching out to people that could be time restrained with other commitments is to create an online course. This could be a video-based course or a more traditional text-based course offered through your own website. Online courses are popular because they provide an excellent way for you to share your expertise with others in a comprehensive and engaging way. Plus, courses can be priced at any level, making them accessible to a wide range of potential students.
#3. Create a Membership Site
If you have valuable content that you want to share with the world but don't want to give it away for free, consider creating a membership site. This digital product allows access to exclusive content in exchange for a monthly or annual subscription fee. Membership sites are popular because they offer a way to generate recurring income for you while still providing value to your audience.
To wrap up, these are a few ways as a career coach, you can expand your reach and help more clients to achieve their goals.
And what is it that you need to build your online career school or academy, where will you host your course? One thing's for sure, you don't need to start with a catalogue of courses. The easiest way is to just focus on one idea, think of one commonality your clients have, maybe how to answer competency based questions or how to follow up after an interview, maybe some clients want to self study and learn about different types of interview questions.
You will still get the one to one clients in your business but adapting to this business model will certainly bring in more.
